Lone Star Chili-Super Bowl Recipes

The big D. Dallas, Texas. The Lone Star State. The site of Super Bowl 45. Jerry’s world. Texas Stadium. The Steelers. The Packers. NFL royalty. Can this game be any bigger? You bet it can! How about cooking up a Texas size batch of Lone Star Chili? This chili recipe was created for the big game. Sit down in front of the big screen with your friends and family and chow down on a tremendous chili extravaganza. Simple ingredients blended with unbelievable flavors. Don’t mess around with any small time chili.

This Super Bowl chili recipe is guaranteed to make everyone come back for seconds and maybe even thirds. I believe chili is best when you use high quality beef. Don’t skimp on quality. Go with the best and make your chili the talk of the game. Enjoy the Super Bowl and Go Steelers and Go Packers. Good luck men!

Lone Star Chili

2 pounds lean ground beef (the leaner the better)

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 large onions, chopped

3 garlic cloves, minced

5 tablespoons chili powder

1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin

2 teaspoons dried oregano, crushed

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper

3 cups hot water

1/2 (6-ounce) cam tomato paste

1. Set a large, heavy pot over medium heat.

2. Add the beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until brown. Transfer the beef to a bowl and set aside. Discard any drippings in the pot.

3. Heat the oil in the same pot over medium-high heat.

4. Add the onions and garlic: cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

5. Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano, black and red pepper and cook, stirring constantly, just until fragrant.

6. Stir in the reserved beef, hot water, and tomato paste, and bring to a boil.

7. Reduce the heat and simmer until the mixture is thick and the flavors are blended, at least 30 minutes longer.
