Café con Leche (Spanish: "coffee with milk")![]()
also called cafebar, is a Spanish coffee beverage.
Similar to the French cafe au lait and the Italian
caffe e latte, café con leche is a coffee beverage
consisting of strong or bold coffee (sometimes espresso)
mixed with scalded milk in approximately a 1:1 ratio.
Sugar is added according to taste.
The beverage is extremely common in Spain and in many
Latin American countries and communities around the world. In the Cuban bastions of Tampa and Miami, café con leche is a local breakfast staple.
Café con Leche
Makes 1 Serving
1/2 cup whole or condensed milk
1/4 cup brewed strong
American coffee, espresso, or Cuban-style coffee
1. In saucepan scald milk, but make sure it does not boil, or steam milk in an espresso maker following the manufacturer´s instructions.
2. Pour milk into mug and add coffee.
Makes 1 serving.
