Homemade Lemonade

This low fat, refreshing lemonade recipe is exactly what is needed to survive during the hot, sticky months of summer. A very low calorie count of 313 makes this recipe a great and smart choice. Be sure to have plenty of ice and serve chilled.

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup lemon peel strips (about 1-1/2 lemons)

3/4 cup lemon juice (about 3 lemons)

1 cup club soda, chilled

1. In a small saucepan, heat sugar and water over medium heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently.

2. Stir in lemon strips. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.

3. Cool slightly. Transfer to a pitcher. Stir in lemon juice; cover and refrigerate until chilled.

4. Discard lemon strips. Stir in club soda. Serve over ice.

Makes 2-1/2 cups.
