1. Peel a ripe banana. Cut it in half lengthwise and place it in a shallow bowl. If you want a smaller breakfast banana split, cut the banana in half before peeling it and halving it.

2. Place various berries on top of the bananas. Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries go really well with this treat. You can use frozen or fresh berries. The frozen berries, slightly thawed, will resemble the ice cream part of a traditional banana split.

3. Scoop some low-fat yogurt onto your fruit. Use either vanilla or fruit flavored. Spoon a tiny bit of fat-free whipped cream onto the top of your breakfast sundae. This step is more for appearance than flavor and can easily be skipped to keep it a strictly breakfast item.

4. Sprinkle some dry cereal on top of your breakfast banana split. You can choose any cereal that you like. Regular granola mixes well with fruit and yogurt. You can use more than one type of cereal to resemble the variety of toppings on a real banana split.

5. Top your banana split with some fruit syrup and some more berries. Enjoy immediately after preparing.
