Blender Breakfast Smoothie

Fresh banana

Frozen strawberries

Juice

other fresh or frozen fruit

Plain yogurt, non or low fat

1. In your blender, add about a 1/4-1/2 cup of juice. Sometimes I use orange and sometimes I use pineapple. You can use peach, mango, guava or whatever you like.

2. Then add in your yogurt. I usually just pour a bit in from the container, close to 1/2 cup or so. While I like the taste of fresh fruit, I always use some frozen fruit so I can get the cold, frosty sensation that I like in my smoothies. This means I don't have to add ice and water it down. I use frozen strawberries, raspberries or blackberries.

3. I always put in 1/2 of a fresh banana for the vitamin content. I don't like to eat bananas but they are great for muscles and leg cramps. This is how I get my serving of banana each day.

4. Lastly, I add complimentary fruit. One smoothie would be strawberry, pineapple juice, banana and mango; another would be strawberry, blackberry and pineapple. Add the fruits that you think go well together. Mango is especially sweet, so if you like a little more sugar in your smoothie, add mango.

5.Blend until the smoothie is a uniform color and consistency. If it is too thick to blend smoothly, add more juice. If it is too thin, add more yogurt and fruit. This makes about one 8-oz glass.
