This cheerful amd colorful Christmas cookie recipe brings back flavorful cookies from the past. All your small children will absolutely love the taste and enjoy the smells as these little gingerbreads bake in the oven. Merry Christmas!     

 

Gingerbread CookiesGingerbread Cookies

 

1 cup molasses

 

Mixing Spoons

 

Cookie Cutters

 

1 cup sugars

 

1 1/2 teaspoons cloves

 

1 teaspoon baking soda

 

Measuring Spoons

 

Cookie sheets

 

Mixing bowls

 

1 1/2 teaspoon ginger

 

Cooling Racks

 

1 teaspoon salt

 

2 teaspoon baking powder

 

2 sticks unsalted butters

 

1 teaspoon cinnamon

 

1 teaspoon nutmeg

 

Measuring cups

 

2 eggs

 

Oven mitts

 

5 cups sifted all-purpose flour

 

 

 

1. Mix butter and sugar until creamy.

 

2. Add eggs, molasses and water. Mix well. Mix the dry ingredients together.

 

3. Blend the dry ingredients into the butter mixture.

 

4. Chill for at least three hours or overnight.

 

5. Roll out dough onto lightly floured cookie sheet. Using cookie cutters, cut out shapes. 

 

6. Place cookies about an inch apart on the cookie sheet and bake for five minutes at 375*F. Cool on rack and then decorate cookies.
