85% of rice consumed in the U.S. is grown here! Farmers in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri and Mississippi produce about 19 billion pounds of rice each year.
This recipe was a "Rice to the Rescue!" Recipe Contest Winner - Debbie Jandro.
3 cups cooked medium grain rice
3 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ground cinnamon (optional)
Whipped cream (optional)
1. Combine rice, milk, sugar, butter and cinnamon sticks in 2-quart saucepan.
2. Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy (20 to 25 minutes), stirring frequently.
3. Remove from heat; remove cinnamon and stir in vanilla.
4. Sprinkle with cinnamon and top with whipped cream, if desired.
