New Year's Dutch DonutsNew Year's Dutch Donuts

1 envelope dry yeast

1 cup warm water

3 tbsp. white sugar

2 large eggs

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 tsp. salt

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup diced apples

1 cup raisins

1 cup golden raisins

1 cup powdered sugar

Oil for deep frying

1. Prepare the yeast. Pour 1/2 cup warm water into a food processor and mix in the yeast and sugar. Mix at low speed then let stand to dissolve.

2. Add the eggs. Slowly mix the water, eggs, vanilla, and salt into the yeast mixture on very slow speed.

3. Add flour. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time with the mixer turning at medium speed. Mix entire mixture on high for about two minutes until a thick dough forms.

4. Add the fruit. Slowly add the apples, raisins, and golden raisins until combined. Let the dough rise.

5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Let rise until doubled in size, about 2 hours.

6. Prepare for frying. Heat 2 inches of oil in a large skillet. Prepare the donuts. Roll the dough into small 1/2-inch balls and drop into hot oil to fry. Donuts are cooked with all sides are a light brown color.

7. Drain donuts on paper towels. Sprinkle with a dusting of powdered sugar. Serve immediately, and enjoy!
