A simple, economical tailgating recipe for a crisp fall day in South Bend, Indiana. Prior to the start of the game, the team attends mass in formal attire at the Sacred Heart Basilica. At the conclusion of mass, fans form a line from the chapel to the stadium, which the team walks through. This recipe is perfect to enjoy after the chapel walk. Go Irish!
1 3.5-ounce package sliced pepperoni, chopped
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (1 ounce)
1 11-ounce package (12) refrigerated breadsticks
1 cup pizza sauce, warmed
1. Preheat oven to 350*F. Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan; set aside.
2. In a medium bowl combine pepperoni, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese; set aside.
3. Cut dough into 1-inch pieces with a kitchen scissors or sharp knife.
4. Arrange 1/3 of the dough pieces in prepared pan. Top with 1/3 of the cheese mixture. Repeat layers 2 more times.
5. Bake, uncovered, for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
6. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Remove from pan.
Serve warm with pizza sauce.
Makes 8 servings.
