Sea Island Shrimp (Georgia Football Tailgating Recipes)

The annual Georgia–Florida SEC college football classic is now here! Sea Island shrimp is outstanding in taste, texture and color. Vidalia onions and lemons together form to create a zesty, lemony taste that make this tailgating recipe one of the best shrimp recipes around. Go Dawgs! Go Gators!

5 pounds fresh or frozen medium shrimp

4 medium-sized Vidalia onions, sliced

4 medium tomatoes, sliced

4 lemons, thinly sliced

Ingredients for Marinade:

1 cup oil

1/4 cup vinegar

1 garlic clove, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon celery salt

Capers

To Prepare:

1. Clean, cook, and drain shrimp.

2. In a large salad bowl, alternately layer shrimp, onions, tomatoes, and lemons.

3. Mix marinade ingredients and pour over the salad bowl contents.

4. Marinade may be doubled if necessary.

5. Chill eight hours so that flavors blend.

Decorate with parsley.
