Joe Popolowski submitted this recipe to honor his late Soldier Field Cheesy Chili grandfather Guiseppe. This recipe is quick, easy, and great for cold, wintry days on the famed lakefront. Bear down Chicago Bears!

Soldier Field Cheesy Chili

Serves 4

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef

1 (1.25-ounce) package low-sodium taco seasoning, or to taste

1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese

1 1/2 cups salsa

2 (15-ounce) cans pinto, kidney or black beans, rinsed and drained

1. In a large skillet or pot, preferably nonstick, over medium high-heat, combine beef and taco seasoning. Brown the beef for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently to break up the meat.

2. Drain if needed. Reduce heat to medium, add cheese and stir until melted. Add salsa and beans and stir to combine.

3. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. A nonstick pot is preferred for easy cleanup.
