Connor Witherspoon III from Bristol, TN. submitted this tailgating recipe toVolunteer Beer Batter Bread remember his legendary party days out on the river at Neyland Stadium.  This is the easiest and most economical football recipe around. Beer and bread combined together to form every man's dream. How can you go wrong with this tasty bread?

GO VOLS!

3 cups self-rising flour

1 tablespoon sugar

pinch salt

1 (12-ounce) can or bottle of beer, at room temperature

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt with a big spoon.

3. Gradually add the beer, stirring constantly, until a stiff batter forms. The batter doesn't have to be completely smooth, but most of the lumps should be beaten out of it.

4. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake for 25 minutes, then drizzle the melted butter over the top.

5. Return to the oven and bake until the top is golden and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom (about 20 to 25 minutes longer).

6. Cool the loaf in the pan about 15 minutes.

7. Remove from the pan and place on a wire rack to cool.

Serve warm, or cool completely.

Makes 1 loaf.
