This Halloween candy corn recipe is a lovely departure from most of your hobgoblin treats. Candy corn was created in the 1880s by George Renninger of the WunderleeCandy Company; the three colors of the candy mimic the appearance of kernels of corn. 20 million pounds (9,000 tons) of candy corn are sold annually. Happy Halloween!
1 log sugar cookie dough, slightly softened
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup candy corn pieces
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/2 cup white raisins
1/2 cup canned frosting
1. Preheat oven to 350*F. Line a 10-inch pizza or cake pan with aluminum foil.
2. Press the cookie dough into the pan evenly to create a crust.
3. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden. Remove from heat and set aside. When crust is cool, use the aluminum foil to lift it from the pan. Place on a serving tray.
4. Spread the crust with peanut butter. Sprinkle candy corn, cherries and raisins over the peanut butter.
5. Place frosting in the microwave and cook on high for 20 seconds, until the frosting begins to melt.
Makes 16 servings.
Drizzle the melted icing over the pizza.
