Chocolate Cookie Dough
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1⁄2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
21⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
You will need:
Wilton “Boo”cookie cutters and fine ribbon (if making Boo Garland)
To make dough:
1. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl with electric mixer until fluffy.
2. Beat in egg and vanilla.
3. On low speed, beat in cocoa powder and salt until blended.
4. Gradually beat in flour until blended. Press dough into a flat disc and wrap in plastic wrap.
5. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
6. Heat oven to 350*F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
7. On a floured surface or silicone baking mat, roll out dough to 1⁄3 in. thick. Use cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Place shapes 1⁄2 in. apart on baking sheets.
8. Bake cookies 15 minutes or until firm. Cool on wire rack 2 minutes, then remove to rack to cool completely.
9. Reroll, cut and bake remaining cookie dough scraps.
To make Boo Garland:
Use fine ribbon to connect as many cookies as you like, tying a small bow between each cookie.
Makes 20 cookies.
