Golf, The Masters, and the South all seem to go effortlessly together. Pimento cheese is a common food in the Southern United States. This pimento cheese recipe is a great spread recipe. Spread on crackers, bread, toast or whatever suits your desires. Prepare a batch in time for the first broadcast from Augusta, Georgia and enjoy a definite Southern tradition!
1 pound sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 small red onion, chopped
8–10 ounces pimentos or roasted red peppers, drained and chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup mayonnaise*
Ground white pepper to taste
1. In a large bowl, combine cheese, red onion and pimentos.
2. In a smaller bowl, mix green onions and garlic with mayonnaise, then add to cheese mixture and blend thoroughly.
3. Add white pepper and stir well to combine thoroughly.
Chill a few hours before serving.
Makes 3 cups.
