A perfect way to jazz up Thanksgiving Day turkey leftovers. Your family and special guests will be so surprised with this exquisite turkey recipe. Serve with cranberry sauce and Happy Thanksgiving!
Filling:
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped celery
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup thin gravy or broth from bones
1. Sauté onion and celery in butter until soft, about 5 minutes.
2. Add remaining ingredients and stir lightly with a fork to mix well.
Biscuits:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch poultry seasoning
1/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup milk
1. Sift flour, measure and resift 3 times with next 3 ingredients.
2. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or two knives until consistency of rice.
3. Add milk all at once and stir quickly with a fork until dough stiffens.
4. Knead quickly on a lightly floured board 8 times.
5. Roll out to a 12-inch square, cut into 4 squares.
6. Place 1/4 of the filling in center of each square, moisten edge of dough and fold over.
7. Press edges together with fork, to seal. Prick tops for steam vents.
8. Brush tops with melted butter. bake on a cookie sheet in a moderately hot oven (425*F) 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Makes 4 servings.
